Another good year
Authors Notes: Yes, it's a haiku about the Chinese New Year. The global melting pot continues unabated! Also... Does anyone know if the "ed" and "es" endings on verbs count as a morae?
Bonus haiku! (It's not as good...)
He lives on the moon
Supple yin welcoming all
And this is his year!
You comment in this which is not permitted really. Chinese New Year is perfectly permissable. Modern haiku is not generally written in the 5-7-5 pattern and is it actually hard to get published in this format now (its not taken seriously generally; haiku can be an uppity field).
ed and es endings are only counted if they pronounced. Naked its counted, stopped it isn't.
Sorry I am the resident pain in the arse on this topic.
Opinions differ wether haiku is a meter form or a content restriction. Just to warn you before someone comes in and says "it's not actually haiku".
Whether it is or not, is irrelevant imo. It's pretty good. I actually like the second one best. :)
