Chloe Poses For Jules Lefebvre

leaning left
she presents her breasts
Jules threatens; her head yells
losing his thread
teeth throbbing
meat from her dinner
lodged between

(I wrote this poem based on a legend I had heard about the model for the painting in the title, Chloe by Jules Lefebvre. The model for the painting, a woman named Marie was susposed to have gone mad and killed and eaten her dinner guests. The truth is much sadder, she killed herself because the painter did not return her love. See the poetry forum for a picture of the painting and more details.)
