it was a choice

she never knew she could make

a concept too big

a dream from which she would awake

the smile was there

it shown on her face

but the contentment was missing

she couldn’t quite get to that illusive place

it was circumstances that formed it

that is what she always believed

for so very long

with that thought she had been deceived

for the happiness she sought

did not come in a relationship or in possessions

it came from inside

it is a decision

now her smile is in her eyes

contentment and peace in her heart

frustration and negativity a thing of the past

holding her for so long, they no longer have a part
