Choices

byskittles_lm©

Just another lonely night
in another empty house
that I thought I
could make a home.
I have no home,
no heart,
both ripped away
by a love too
fragile to stand
against her fears.
I made the choice
to love again,
to hope that there
could be joy and
light here with her.
I chose wrong.
She coaxed my
bruised and bleeding
heart into believing
in her strength
and then crushed it,
my soul just so much
dust under her heel.
I realize now that I
am just too wretched
to be loved.
I will not forget again.
My heart dies with her.
