I find you in metallic oil slick rainbows,
a prism fantastic dancing at the

edges of sunbeam

setting the world ablaze at
twenty two frames a second.

A single pebble spins the entire
microcosm into turmoil leaving only

an exhaust colored sunset

it tastes like exhaust, too, in the way
my teeth feel gritty just from breathing.

I found you here at an abandoned yard sale,
in a forgotten leather trunk

withering with age

just like me, just like my tired story
and sleepy disposition.

I found us as sentient clockworks,
broken down and flawlessly nonfunctioning

rusted and chipped

in need of calibration, restoration,
maybe therapy.

Mostly, I found in us
something beautiful behold and fragile

like oil slick color phantoms

ruined with a single pebble,
and only visible in the right light.

The ending

is so much better than the beginning. I hope you see it.
