She reads…

And yet it doesn’t help quench the ache of times past

Where she arched and bent and bruised and fell exhausted against his chest

And there were others equally (well, not so much) amusing

But not worthy of mention…at least not here

Then came the husbands

First was decent, funny, whorish, done

Second was lazy, impotent, insulting, done

Now she sits

And waits

And ages

And screams for release

She has met her One

Not her first but better

So much better

The One who owns her soul

The One whom she can never have

The One who ruins her for anyone else

And He is not for her to take

Another life

Another heart

Another box of batteries

Another pack of smokes

Another case of wine.

Wake up Maggie....

no longer late September... very nice ...enjoyed the ending ...made me feel like it was an old routine done over and over ....Now, to go find that song again.

Time and its passing

too often lead to regrets, and unfulfilled desires... A nice poem, MaggieMay.
