City Slickers

Neon lights and restless traffic
a city that never sleeps.
Smog and fumes smoulder through the streets
the filthy underground where people meet
and clamber aboard the train
Toying back and fourth
Off to work they go again.

Routine and busy lifestyles
the money seeping form every pore
the suits walk by with their brief cases
as they take to the tower blocks once more.

City slickers, foreign nationals and yuppies
all commune in this hideous place.
No time to reflect on life's pleasures
only to exist as part of the human race.
