As I sit and listen to a favourite
Song of mine, I am reminded of
Just how the words could have
Been applied to we two.
Whether you be near of far
I will carry on. Once again you
Try and open the door to my
Heart... but dare I let you come
Through it?
Dare I trust you not to rip
That same loving organ from out
My chest and tear it to shreds
For your own enjoyment one
More time?
Love truly touches us but once
And can last a lifetime... and 'twill
Never let go until we're gone.
God! How I miss you....
Once again, you try to open the
Door... but I am afraid to let you
Back to be close to me. I loved
You once... deeply and truly...
But never again.
I will not let my heart fall for you
Again... for you wound when you
Love. You have the nerve to ask
Me how? Or ask me why?
Simple answer... because you know
Not the true meaning of love nor
How to give love, nor how to receive
Love... alas... more's the pity.
You were my love, my life... I couldn't
Believe I had found you, and love,
After all the time I had remained within
My shell!
Now... go away from me, my love...
And may the Good Lord bless you.
I know we shall never be with
Each other... at least in the ways you
Spoke of... and not in the ways
You had wanted me... or had led me
To believe!
How cruel you were... to lead me on
The way you did. You only proved to

No one; or to let any man get close

'Tis yet again a simple answer...
Because now, I am Closed Forever...

As it once did... disguised as you.

Victoria_2001_02769almost 15 years agoAuthorTrue. Perhaps it was a bit of overkill and overlong and perhaps it could have been said with less words. But as stated in my original reply... at the time this piece had first been written, it had been six months in the writing.

LeBrozabout 17 years agoPowerful but overlong; could work at 8 strophes {or less}. Not to deny the importance of all you want to say but in many cases, not saying something will speak volumes greater than any words inscribed on paper.
