COCOON

So many words, little one,
From voices, old and new,
Giving sound to fondest hopes,
Dreaming about you.

You are the marrow of every mind,
The Sequoia in the seed,
The giant step we wait to take,
The breath we wait to breathe.

And you’re simply there, inside of me,
Treasured, minikin, new,
Trusting, in your silent squirm
That I’ll take care of you.

Never fear, my little one.
Always, I am here.
Your smile, these eyes of mine will see.
Your cry, these ears will hear.

Until that time, in my embrace,
Your newborn form shall be,
Rest assured and kick away.
You’re safe inside of me.
