~~~~~
we filled the distance
over coffee,
twenty years
floated across the table
like it was yesterday.
happily ever after's divorce,
and live in's forget the marriage,
made simple
what once was fairy dust
judgement.
now mere ashes.
we three hung like holes
drilled into a bowling ball,
rock solid friendship rolled
through years,
plowing into life's fulfilling pins.
strikes and spares
accomplished,
but not without the gutter.
some pins still remain
waiting for the strong arm.
this game that we call life
has been successful,
despite the pins still standing.
another twenty years
to double the score,
a few points
for wisdom gained,
will surely make us winners.
Interesting use of bowling as a metaphor for life; the game goes on, never ending.
More like strikes
than spares, nicely done. This part slips out of the bowling analogy, almost a perfect game.
"happily ever after's divorce,
and live in's forget the marriage,
made simple
what once was fairy dust
judgement.
now mere ashes."
