College Football

I played a scrimmage game with my old college team,
Haven’t played in twenty years, my uniform split down the seam.
After the game, we went out to chug-a-lug a few beers.
It was fun to rerun some plays encouraged by the cheers,
Of our new fans, the wives of the players and their children, too.
In the span of a generation, my spirit was renewed.

It was great to see the old guys once more,
Bubba sings tenor in a Broadway chorus, Killer feeds the poor,
Mad Dog is a florist, Moose a dentist, and Rocky sells shoes.
Strange occupations for a defensive line that refused to lose.
But, now, that I’m older with bad back and weak knees, I’ve had my dreams,
That is, to play again with my old college team

Now that's a nice way to refuse to grow old. Your doctor will appreciate it as well!
