Green was the child I used to be,
as gullible as they come –
black was the way you treated me,
it left me cold and numb.

Blue is how my life has been
in a joyless, heartless pact –
it took my hopes, my time, my heart
but left desire intact.

Grey is the person I am now
but my heart is still as red
as it was when I was seventeen –
Oh please, please, take me to bed!

Nice little light verse change of pace, demure

Nearly superb

Nice and nearly but not quite (my view) superb.

Great ideas and development. Nice contrast with ‘The years’ and ‘Album’ in style.

I feel the very strong rhythm and flow in the first two verses falters slightly in the third verse. This is a very great shame as the ideas in the third verse and the mad switch to ‘give me sex’ are absolutely superb.

It is this quality of thought that is the overriding quality in all four of Demure’s poems today – which is the most important thing in a poem, otherwise the writer is just polishing pieces of glass.
