The tropical sun on the colourful dyes
Invites you to stay back and roam –
Till your overlong stay under inclement skies
The dirt and the odours, the bugs and the flies,
The beggars' pathetic monotonous cries,
Those appraising looks from inquisitive eyes,
The legal corruption, officious small lies
Leave you there lost with your what-fors and whys
But to realize you can't cut your old ties
And longing to flee and go home.
