With crystalline drops I bathed your wounds
And said a silent plea
That you would release this painful world
And sleep so peacefully
I held your hand, and stroked your face
As cold liquid filled your veins
Those loving eyes that once spoke life
Showed no spirit did remain
And now what was once a true a loving friend
I hold within my palm
The ephemeral dust that now flies free
A soul’s eternal balm.
