the winds of fate blow
against the reef of will
destiny ebbs flows rips like tides
turbulent waters swirl
minds reeling taking rides
pushing pulling and tearing
shredding unspent prides
coppers in the sand
soul crushing rocks of reality
sharp poignant yet uncaring
unmoving unbent unyielding
we continue exist persist persevere
refusing to give up
the breath the hope the promise
gasping grasping holding what is dear
a sigh of soft breath
a whisper in the dark
refusing to release a dream
my dream
any dream
let them come
tear it from my grasp and yet
here it remains untouched
unlost unmolested
despite vagaries and time
near and dear in velvet folds
enfolded
caressed
crossed not lost
wrapped in warmth
the breath
the touch
the reaches beyond time
beyond touch of the waves of fate
and the price
coppers in the sands
seagulls spiraling in the wind
salt spray and salt tears
tasted from tender lips
