I am your darkest fear
though you don't know it yet.
By day I am a harmless man,
as pleasant as can be.
I smile, I wave
walk past your yard,
you shade your eyes, and smile as well,
(because you've never been to Hell).
And then came me.
Dark-self comes and I am free
light-self is such a strain.
Dark-self's the one who needs you though,
you are his masterpiece.
And while he works he'll talk to you
and shares our histories.
I'm not a monster, not a man,
but somewhere in between.
The dark's what keeps your nightlights on,
your doors locked tight,
your TVs bright.
Flashlights, s'mores and boogeymen...
and so much more you cannot see.
I do not fear the dark.
The dark fears me.
*This poem is pure fiction! I'm not even a guy. Just wanted to clarify that. NOT a psycho...I promise!!
