CRIES IN THE NIGHT

The wind cries
In the still of the night,
A precious child is lost
From a mothers sight.

The air is heavy
Laden with dew,
Tender touch
Now turns blue.

Innocence now
Has been betrayed,
Scarlet drops of pain
Cover the blade.

Tears ran silently
now none are found,
Precious lips
Can make no sound.

Yes, the child was lost
From a mothers sight,
And now with the wind
He cries in the night…BWL

~~

Deeply saddening poem with the image of a snatched child ultimately killed; only the wind remains of that child's cries.
