The sonnet is a lover's form oft-times,
designed for heavy breathing tête–à–têtes,
seductive in its use of clever rhymes.
Seduction is the sonnet's raison d'être.
Unfortunately, you are out of reach.
My whispered lyrics never brush your ear,
so I cannot seduce you with mere speech
(or writing, to speak properly) my dear,
and yet I must. A sonnet is formed so.
Its lilting language spells out plangently
profundities of loving, sexual,
between its subject (you) and poet (me).
No bitterness bear I beneath this rood:
Pen perfect poem that puts her in the mood.
