With my eyes half-closed
I can almost sense you
through the words,
hear you whisper my name,
your make-believe voice
resonating in my head.
My typing is stilted
stumbling over keystrokes
like lovers clawing at clothes
only to be close.
The words we make
turned to flesh—
easier because I can't
look you in the eye,
easier to tell you
just what I want.
The sighs and moans
peak and nothing but
the truth lies between us
in the empty spaces
left unwritten, leaving me
hollow and hungry all the more.
