You were teaching me to dance
on a roughly polished floor in a casino bar.

"Just look in my eyes and follow me."

I tried, I did,
but there was all this spinning and dipping...
and your eyes intent on mine...

"Don’t anticipate what I’m going to do next.
Let me lead."

I did it, I did,
and I laughed into your eyes the whole time
you twirled me at will.
And you dipped! I liked the dipping.

You weren’t really teaching me to dance
out on the dark parquet of the casino bar.

I saw you looking at me.
I was looking at you.
I noticed.

You were teaching me to trust
on that roughly polished floor in that casino bar.

"Just look in my eyes and follow me."

I tried, I did,
and there was all this spinning and dipping...
and your eyes subtly guiding...

"Don’t anticipate what I’m going to do next.
Let me lead.”

I did it, I did,
and I laughed into your eyes the whole time
you twirled me at will.
And you dipped! I liked the dipping.

You weren’t really teaching me to dance
out on the dark parquet of the casino bar.

I saw you looking at me.
I was looking at you.
I believed.

Dancing is...

...and always has been wildly erotic for me.

I love this poem...

...the lesson of learning to trust another is there, but there's such joy in the lesson. I love this line: "I laughed into your eyes the whole time." You made me smile wide this morning - thank you.

A dance

LJ, this poem actually made me feel the dance. I felt like I was spinning along with music. Wonderful cadence. A treasure. Thanks.

It's so true!

Surrendering to the lead takes practice -- and it's fun (as long as it ends when you leave the dance floor). :o) ~Imp
