Dark moon rose
in a dark sky
and nothing was discernible to the eye

No animal moved
in the silent wood
In the empty city no one stood

No man walked
where man once trod
Nothing was alive but the wrath of God

In the barren fields
no crops grew
under empty skies where no birds flew

The sun grew cold
and turned to ice
and evil crawled like body lice

Great deserts
overran the sea
Nightmares became reality

Shadows lurked
to hide the day
and preyed on thoughts, who ran away

Dust lay still
where rivers ran
and madness walked disguised as man

Shape and shadows
all congealed
and met as one in a fallow field

Music died
and so did dream
The only sound was an endless scream
