dark muse

you slip into my nightmare,
your kiss cool and defining.
fill my mind with images,
with words.
the timing
is so delicate with you.
why do you always come along
when days are so desolate?
when life has gone all wrong?

your sigh rumbles heavily
like thunder in the night,
like a freight train through my heart,
heard and felt, but out of sight.

you raise your slender fingers
caress my skin and then
gnash a claw right through my veins
creativity pouring forth
like blood.
like winter rain,
cool and soothing
my words flow strong.
you are my dark muse
and my pain
is our song.
