His darkness inspires.
It fills my soul.
The pounding of my heart,
is his very goal.

The fear within
strikes such a chord
as to break through my chest
as if thrust by a sword.

He winds this tale,
weaving it through the black
pushing and prodding
till my soul pushes back.

Fighting the words.
Fearing the truth.
Knowing in my heart,
it's the root of my youth.

For never have I felt
this young and unafraid
as stories are spun around me
with the sharpness of a blade.

His evil mind ventures closer,
seeking my deepest fear.
Never letting me rest,
I know it shall soon be clear.

And once that fear is revealed
will I be allowed to rest?
Only as long as it takes
for my heart to stop pounding in my chest.
