Her tiny hand clenched tightly in mine
her giggles, her laugh, and even her whine.
We hold hands and skip as we go through the mall
a man almost 6 feet and her not quite as tall.
Hand in hand we go laughing from store to store
heads turn and smile as we skip through the door
Every evening we lay together reading books before bed
the words of the stories are burned in her head.
She laughs and giggles and snuggles up tight
asking me to read to her for the rest of the night.
We read about Sam, Knox and the cat
who has mess cleaner-upers stowed in his hat!
Each morning I wake her with a soft tender kiss
I savor the moment for someday I will miss
her hugs and her kisses and her little belly laughs
and trips to the zoo to see the elephants and giraffes.
Running through the sprinkler on hot summer days
Looking at the mountains through the cities thick haze
Your tiny little body, your smile and your eyes so soft and blue.
Very few things in this world mean as much to me as you.
