Dawn breaks
In fiery crimson
And deep violet
I have been watching you sleep
Your warm brown eyes
Peek out from under
Half-closed lids
A tiny smile
Crinkles the corners
Of your full lips
And you relax
Knowing that I am here
Your champion
And your guardian
When our eyes meet
Everything else
Fades into the background
Like the twinkling lights
In the hazy distance
And there is just
You and me
And what we have become
Together
We are no longer surviving
We are living
And best of all
We are loving
You are my muse
You let me feel
You let me release
What I've been holding
So tightly inside
I want to know
Every part of you
Inside and out
To understand every action
To anticipate every desire
You are the light
That illuminates
My darkest corners
You are all of the colors
Of the sunrise
Now the pinks are fading
Into the pale yellow
Of the rising sun
What a great day
To be alive
What a great day
To be in love
