Dawn

the clay red tiled floor corner
where she throws her dirty clothes

light creeping in the window at dawn
to pool in the center of the room

H framed in her curls and a thirty-watt bulb
a white sleeveless shirt

   pillow talk in body language

aureola blushing red through the tired cloth
 legs two bare pink pink
displayed wide from under the table

Crooked teeth
rosebud mouth
bedmessed hair

boiling water for tea
for laundry

Her elbows on the table
watching me wash a shirt in the sink

Me scrubbing bare to the waist
telling her to put that fucking cigarette out
wet and laughing
