sings lullabies
to a satin-draped stiletto
dyed red wine

taste a drop
as it ponders and falls
quiet noise that breaks the silence
of a pool of water

shimmer black
twined in peace
shatter war daydreams
of tomorrow

sweet sorrow
melancholy nightmares
of what might have been
will never be again

staccato kiss offers goodbyes
