Dead
Felt your love touch me for a fleeting moment,
Across oceans deep, and lands so wide,
To hold me in it's embrace,
So safe and protected, home at last.
But now I'm lost again,
Adrift at sea, blown and battered,
No safe port to return too,
No arms to hold me close,
No place to turn and dry my tears,
And know you'll be there waiting.
Feet keep slipping in the quagmire,
No balance, no safety rail;
Just sliding into oblivion
And praying for an end to the pain,
An end to existence, an end to me;
A place where numbness reigns,
No way to touch the core
A way to close the gate I left too wide open,
To find the key I tossed away
To let the feelings in.
