Timidity threatens to overwhelm me
It attacks not just specific areas
But over the whole spectrum
I’m becoming paralyzed
In a bunker of silence
I cower and hide
My feelings in
Dead air

Wrapped in a blanket of acrid sweat
The stench is a coffin of its own
My tongue cleaves to palate
Mouth to dry to speak but
Laughter offers refuge
And none see tears
Cascade over a
Wax grin
