Death in Love

I’ve loved her thru all her incarnations,
I’ve loved her countless ages,
Her form changes,
Her beauty fades,
The sparkle of her eyes reveals her,
The warmth of her smile reveals her.

I’ve watched her life begin,
I’ve watched her life end,
Shared her dreams,
Shared her sorrows,
The electricity of her laugh reveals her,
The tilt of her head reveals her.

I’ve been her lover,
I’ve been her friend,
Lost my heart,
Lost my way,
The hunger in my eyes reveals me,
The emptiness in my soul reveals me.

I’ve refused to extinguish her light,
I’ve extinguished her light too soon,
Haunted thru eternity,
Haunted by her spirit,
The coldness of my touch reveals me,
The trail of sorrow of my passing reveals me.
