On the 21st of December
so many years ago
A date I will remember
it's the day I let her go

Her face was so impassive
but I could see it her eyes
I stood there in the doorway
as she turned into the night

My mind reached out to touch her
as I watched her walk away
Already spoke our last goodbyes
there was nothing left to say

A candle on the table
is all that lights this room
The only sound is silence
I sit here in my gloom

Her memory I still treasure
the pictures on the wall
When I come home from the day
I still look for her call

Now she's gone forever
will I ever ease the pain
Or will I be reminded
every time I see her name
