Deeper Fears

I hide within the darkness,
For it doesn't hurt my eyes.
I stand within the crowds,
Wearing black as my disguise.
But people are dressed so brightly,
Showing life within their clothes.
I stand upon the stage alone,
My isolation shows.

Only a storm brewing,
Distant clouds brewing,
Lightning taunting my deeper fears.
You know I'm not afraid.
When I have no more tears.

Waiting by an hourglass,
Which long since poured its sand.
My tired eyes are closing,
And pills drop from my hand.
Shadows fill the room.
Where sunlight used to lie,
I'm drifting to another world.
As rain falls from the sky.

Only a storm brewing,
Distant clouds brewing,
Lightning taunting my deeper fears.
You know I'm not afraid.
When I have no more tears.
