back from those
quiet underpinnings
of your slip
where I have been
tucked away
except for those sweet
swishing sounds
you hear my shuffling feet once more
soundless
except for the scuffle
of my limp
my walk is fragile
on those stairs but
that second step
and my left knee
still creak.
