I agree. This is pure and simple, very well written.
I dont think the punctuation you chose helps at all, the ellipses and double hyphen, but that's small stuff. The images and phrasing are very good, in my opinion.

I enjoyed this. Very simple but powerful at the same time. Reminded me somewhat of a haiku just extended.
