Click hereHave you ever been on the desert,
In the heat of a searing day?
Have you felt the heat of that sun burn,
Til you lose color and turn gray?
I've wandered the roads across deserts,
And I've felt the blast of their heat!
I've burned like a cinder in daytime,
And frozen at night cause of sleet!
The desert's not empty for walkers,
When you're walking around alone.
There's lizzards and spiders that live there,
And some birds make it their home!
For critters like these life's a struggle,
For life itself and for some food.
The desert life survives as it can,
It's daily survival is skewed!
I've walked across Death Valley Desert,
Til my feet were blistered and sore!
I've sweated like the Devil's demon,
And felt like I entered Hell's door!
I've been down in the Painted Desert,
And looked at the pretty rocks there.
Their colors were just like a rainbow,
No other desert was so fair!
Now that I'm much older and wiser,
My days in the deserts are gone.
I'll not go back to the Badlands,
I just sit now and watch the dawn!!
