My heart grew weary as time passed by,
There had to be more to this life of mine,
Than lonely days filled only with sorrow,
Wondering if it would be worth seeing tomorrow.
A constant parade, day after day,
Of the same old thing, the same old way,
Laughter or fear of my lifestyle,
Made the whole thing barely worthwhile.
Precious few would quench my thirst,
To satisfy the need that always came first,
The taste, so pure, of liquid life,
On my lips, my tongue, the blade of my knife.
Then hope appeared in written form,
Her heart to me seemed rich and warm,
She dreamt of being with one like me,
A thought I accepted quite eagerly.
After a short, but memorable time,
She now is like me, one of my kind,
Burned into my mind by passion's fire,
No other woman, have I so desired.
So drink of me, my sweet, and know,
For every hidden shadow that I do show,
That though my heart is dark and cold,
The deepest spot, for you, it holds.
