Desolation whispers ‘cross barren lands
Acrid plumed scent of scorn’ed desire
Haunted by smell of those consumed
Upon passion’s pitiless pyre

Desolation calls me stumbling forward
Lost amid lingering fields of debris
Searching for sense and for meaning
Within failure’s ominous scree

I wander through desolation’s dark realm
Voices scratch at the backs of my eyes
Lost, dead and gone, bleeding away
Lost in the quest for love’s prize

I search within shadows of desolate night
Seek survivors of life’s merciless dance
Red and entangled, covered in gore
Caught in the reaper’s advance
