Click hereI have one four letter word for it. I play devil's advocate for a reason. I'm just as complacent as you. My idea of revolution is sliding a dirty note from behind in a man's front shirt pocket. Spring time and glossy lips. Short sleeves and push up bras. I have one five letter word for it. Hammer and firing pin. Christmas cactus and German chocolates. High blood pressure and three quarters of an erection.
Thanks for the feedback. If you like this element then you might like my other work as well.
While it is certainly direct and built with all the shiny frills and structure of most poetry culled, this also feels like it is left open in "I have one four letter word for it." and "I have one five letter word for it." It feels like the reader should already know what those words are, but reading again, it seems like those words could be very different, giving the poem a whole new tone and direction. There is a versatility to this that caught me by surprise in a wonderful way. It is like a 'choose your own adventure' of poetry, and that is something that I like and try to do myself from time to time. I don't think I've been able to do it successfully yet, however. In this, I believe you have.
