How do I reassure my son when half a million are dead?
How do I get my OWN head around it?
Half a MILLION.
That’s what they say.
Five Hundred Thousand.
It’s staggering.

From a wave.

A fucking WAVE!

And we’ll go to the beach
We’ll make sandcastles
And my son will forget.

He’ll grow older and see catastrophes of his own.

Will he question the God he believes in?
Will he wonder why?
What will I tell him if he asks?

I’m glad he’s too busy with Sonic Hedgehog.

Sigh...

***

smiles softly...Just know in Your heart that You will be there for him when he transitions from Sonic and sandcastles to his own tragedies as the father you are.
