In what seemed to be a blink of an eye,
.... no more or less
I have one foot grounded in the sands of ordinary
and the other bathed in the tides of the extraordinary.
Feeling the pull of the moon as the mists swirl ever higher caressing my ankle,  stealthily moving up my calf.

My mind's eye begs me to look to left,
Showing me the broken pale bodies piled on the rocks.
Almost to say, "this is what awaits. Is this something to look forward to?
Why would you want this?
It is how it always ends."

I feel the wet tickle of the mist as it whispers and tugs on my right lobe
and as I gazed to the left, it moved ever higher.

 Oh I felt it moving,
the soft touch as it glided up my thigh and wrapped around my stomach.
It was seductive and full of lascivious promises.
It made my muscles tense and nipples harden, as I surrendered
and swayed to its call.
"Look to the sky and the sea," it sung to my heart.
"Trust the feeling and don't doubt for minute.
You will swim in love and never drown."

"Why chance it?" my mind asks.
"Step back, be safe, live long"
As the wet sands shift to cover my left ankle.

 A long empty life?
That is no life
just function and existence.
All that is required is a blind soulless eye.

Soul! Was it not your soul that pulled you into this?
Was it not what blinded you?
Tricked your heart? Led you here?
Again the wet sand moves and piles higher to my mid calf.

I can't stay this way forever, fighting this battle.
I am half a person
Not fully in one place or in the other.
