“Do not ask me to be what I am not…”
You whispered soft to me as W/we lay there
Languid, smooth, relaxed beside me.

You exchanged one pleasure for another,
The heated, intense, and rapid one
Of passionate discovery,
For the sweet, relaxed comfort
Of tender, explorative touches.
Breathing slowed, limbs untangled,
Slow strokes along warm, slick flanks,
Fingertips touching fingertips,
You calm in my arms,
And I melt into You.

“Do not ask me to be what I am not…”
The words, murmured softly, echo in my heart.

Are You not consistent, Mistress?
Are You not firm and fair?
Will You not reward me for my efforts,
And cherish my successes?
Are not Your touches pleasing to me,
Or Your kisses dear?
Is honesty a part of You and who You are?
You are what I ask. I’ll ask no more or less.

“Do not ask me to be what I am not…”
I kiss the words from Your lips
And silence the doubt in You.

Even so, deep in me, my doubts stir,
And I hope that I can be what You ask.
Reassure me on this untraveled road,
Allay my fears of erring as I try so hard to please.
Respect me for who I am,
And who I can or cannot be,
Because I will try to give to You
even the me that I never been.
Trust me to be as honest with myself
As I am with You
And love the little victories I make along the way.
Soothe away my doubts,
As I caress Yours away.
