Downeast Summer Theatre
or "Eat Shit!

The days are drawing near.
Soon the curtain will fall
On the summer stage
of our entertainment.

We like to see the show
the "summer people" put on
In sandals with knee socks,
Izod shirts, and plaid shorts.

They think they look so cool.
We think they look like dorks.
Cut-offs, t-shirts and sneakers R Us.
We wouldn't be caught dead in those get-ups!

It's especially fun to watch
As they try to eat a lobster.
Diamond rings flashing in the light
They eat the tailmeat with delight
Not knowing to remove the "vein".
We laugh, mumble and say,
"People from away eat shit."

We'd roll up the sidewalks
If we had some
Count the summer's take
Vacationland becomes Wasteland
But we can hardly wait.
