Broken pieces of scattered glass,
Scattered petals of a wilted rose...
~*~
When you walked out that door,
I thought my heart would break apart,
When you left me alone in this world,
I thought the darkness would descend,
Like a fragile piece of glass,
And a wilting blood red rose,
Don't leave me here like this,
Coz' I still taste your kiss...
It's lingering, I feel your touch,
On the walls; upon my soul,
A thousand stings, you took the air,
Now what is there for me to breathe?
And every night I see the stars,
Like almost nothing has been changed,
But I can feel my shattered heart,
Fluttering against a golden cage,
I can feel my shattered heart,
The jagged edges of a bleeding wound,
Swirling fragments of a stolen life,
Don't tell me it's all over now,
A gentle breeze upon my cheek,
I'm reminded again of you, so fleet,
I close my eyes, I open my heart,
The pain explodes but I feel you here,
Crystal drops of salty tears,
I feel the abyss beneath me yearn,
What is there to fight for now?
When you're so close yet far away...
I'm bleeding inside, a stealing numbness,
I'm falling through our sweetest moments,
Will you catch me one last time?
I feel your breath upon my skin...
Drawn upon our fading kiss...

Hm. I was initially...very hesitant...I wasn't sure if I should post this...Poetry and music are two artforms that can expose one's deepest thoughts and emotions. But then I thought, it's not like I'm going to show anyone else, so, the Lit readership it is. I haven't composed poetry...in a while. It's menlancholy, this poem, but then, all my compositions have that edge. I'm still hesitant about this poem, but it feels unfair...to just file it away amongst everything else...
Inspiration came to me in the opening of a song and I just had to drop everything and write this down. Lol, it's one of those times when the words just flow from your fingertips. :)
The subtleness is there because I want it to be there.
If you appreciate this poem, thank you, please tell me, it'll make me glad. :)
