Sleep.
She tickles my
Eylashes
Like the elusive
Fingers of a
Lover.
Holding herself just
Off her mark.
Teasing me.

I can feel her.
Licking at the corners
Of my conciousness
Like some hungry
Beast waiting to
Devour me.

But she doesn't come.

She waits in the
Shadows until my
Mind is full of
All the memories
I try to erase
Each day.

And only then,
When I feel like
If I have one more
Thought I'm going to
SCREAM! And my
World will explode,
And the fragile little
Precipice that is
Keeping me from
Falling over the
Edge is about to
Collapse, does
She cradle my head
And sing her soft
Lullaby to carry
Me off into my
Fragmented dreams.

A sleep that feels
Like no sleep at all.

This torment of wanting
Just
ONE GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP.
A sleep that comes on
Swift wings and takes me
To a gentle place.
Where pillows are
Like clouds and my mind
Is free and clear of
Any thought.

This is what I dream about.
In every waking hour.
