dreams, fantasies, visions,
gilded little memories
of wanting and needing
far more acutely
for the fact
that your name
was my mystery
stilled water,
breezeless night,
fabricated landscape
with your presence
unidentified,
but intoxicating me
a night of such hope
I promised the world,
you promised your heart
while morning rays
called us awake
splitting us back in two
and added another day
to the endless waiting
to know who and where you were
somewhere inside my brain
a scene I imagined
over and over and over again,
until, immortalized,
that dream night
was sketched in the stars
and forever aches in my heart
