Awaken ancient Babylon,
light your mystic fire in me and
sow deserts with blood of the free.
Awaken holy Inanna,
lay me in your magic temple
so warriors find release in me
and rejoice in your hallowed name.
Give me as your naked priestess
to your ravenous multitude
until the wheat grows heavy heads
and the children can eat their fill.
Paint my lips, rim my eyes with kohl,
bedeck me in your bright jewels,
anoint my breasts with scented oil.
My vagina serves your horsemen
as scabbard for their phallic blades,
my mouth fellates your bold archers
til my belly fills with their sperm.
Your kiss cloaks me in godliness,
Your touch accepts my gifts as blessed.
Open your occulted door, and
teach me to be your sacred whore.

Fierce Desire

I love the wanton and unbridled lust in this poem. Makes me want to be a Babylonian soldier. Gave it a '5.'

Smartly done, sandy. Our puritanical culture separates spirituality and sexuality. I don't know if the narrative is your imagination at work or an accuate representation of an ancient culture. It doesn't matter. It's effective either way.

Some may object to praising female sexuality in this way (although unlikely with most Literoticans), but turning the poem into an incantation makes it work.

We're coming to the end of a Challenge in the Poetry Feedback & Discussion threads in which a poem is recited using Varoom or Souncloud, web-based audio services. I would have enjoyed hearing this read.

PS For some reason my comment gets posted as anonymous. I'm greenmountaineer.
