Dreaming

I dreamt when I was young of a wedding in spring,
Lacy and white with blossoms in my hair.
Sand in our toes and sea breeze on skin tickling,
My bridesmaids all green with envious pride.
I dreamt in ages past of a wedding in summer.
A flower girl scattering rose petals to the tree,
The guest in the garden, a string quartet playing.
My bridesmaid and matron of honour grinning wide.
I dreamt some years ago of a wedding in autumn.
Wearing a secret that would make Victoria blush.
The building bedecked with balloons with ribbons trailing,
Shots of matrons and I flicking leaves as we stride.
Now it is winter and the dreams are oh so cold.
Nightmares saying that I'm now to ___.
