Click hereHe came into my life like a whirlwind,
shining his love upon my heart.
He set my soul free,
to soar among the clouds above.
He gave me the gift of happiness,
making me feel safe again, not so alone.
He then walked away one day,
taking that gift with him.
With the warmth of love no longer shining,
my heart is cold and my soul grounded.
I now am left in the dark shadows of my life
with the dreams of yesterday.
OMG! You made my eyes water with this one, seriously. The emotion in this poem was strong! It felt like a punch to my heart as it empathizedd with yours. All three stanzas were well written, and any more would have detracted from the power of it. Nicely done!
Where are my manners?
Welcome to Lit;
at least in your poetry submissions, it's been 2 weeks;
which just goes to show, as in your verse, men can be such insensitive bastards - can't we?
Reworking this heartfelt poem to rid the timeworn expressions would strengthen the impact of your words on your audience.
