It’s not a disease, it’s a lifestyle choice
And whose business is it to pry?
We’re making a choice here; a choice to be thin
It’s not your tears that we cry

Those were the things that she spoke of to me
A woman dying for thin
She hungered much more than just for some food
Her mind was starved from within

At first, it’s a diet, the cutting out fats
Then calorie intake goes down
And little by little the illness expands
Leaving her body to drown

She looks in a mirror with eyes that are blind
To the person that others can see
Her mind has deceived her, distorted her view
Of a woman who once was so free

A lifestyle choice, is that what it’s called?
A choice to starve ‘til you die?
To choose such a thing for oneself is insane
And it begs for us all to ask why?

But let us not be the first to throw stones
Instead let us offer some aid
Let’s do all we can to keep them alive
And finally end this charade
