we still walk the early earth.
time has only just begun.
the only miracle is the one - creation,
and we yet tremble in its dawn.
we are the animals we always were -
pagan, barbarian, alone and savage,
adrift in the night and fearing the dark,
we make magic by sacrifice
and seek portents in blood and stones,
but the earth is still young,
like the beasts in its forests
and the fish in its seas
the earth is still early –
time travels at its ease.
